A World Upside Down

 A World Upside Down

Written for no good reason, other than that writers need to write…

Land is the sky, sky is the ground

Somehow we’re standing on air, totally unbound

Standing on our heads, like balloons so round

We float through the air, the air that was the ground

With the “up there” ground, up there is brown

The air, under, is blue, blowing through the floating town

There roots grow up, branches grow down

Roofs where the cellars were, cellars up not down

So we live down in the roof, ourselves upside down

We float through the blue air, being careful of our crown

Sun at night, moon the other way around

Stars dark spots on the “up there” ground

Here nouns are verbs and verbs are nouns

Why don’t we food some eat, some ground round

There’s more to this story, I’m just getting up-wound

Here a dog meows like a kitten, a kitten barks like a hound

Me, I’m upside down, floating to the cat pound

Delivering the barking kitten to the feline lost and found
