A River of Air
A River of Air
Air flows like water through the leafless March trees,
And pools as shadows changing shape as the trees sway in the wind.
Evergreens swirl like water plants, as birds swim in the currents.
Mother deer appears, ears alert to the rushing, rustling air.
Her yearlings prance and dance, frolic in the gusts,
Like children in the waves, the wind a plaything to them.
White clouds sail ever downwind in the ocean of air,
While a rare March thunderhead bursts like a waterfall,
The very air becoming water.
