Sky

 Sky

The sun fell out of the sky one day

Seemed to sputter-out in the lake

But then the moon rise gave us a bright prize

It shone like a big yellow cake

The stars seemed to shoot like fireworks but mute

Made it seem like the sky was falling down

But then nothing exploded, imploded, or commoted

Faces changed to a smile from a frown

Then it rained and poured and gushed and roared

Lightning struck our great old oak

The hero tree gave its life to save ours

It grounded the bolt’s electric poke
