Old Friends
Old Friends
Old friends make each other laugh.
Not that we need to be humored or anything.
Well, maybe a little.
It’s just that we know each other so well,
and can try, but can never really put one over on the other one.
And - as if our shortcomings are not right out front for the eye to see anyway -
we are honest, for the most part, about them.,
And can even exaggerate them a bit for their humor.
That’s, I guess, why we’ve remained friends for so long:
We’re good at our shortcomings.
You know what the old guy in the bar said,
“We’re so soon old, and yet so late shmart.”
Not smart, except for the body part that you sit down on.
That part isn’t just smart, it’s wise.
