 Tanka: “An Opening”


     Tanka is a traditional Japanese poetic form of five lines with the following number of syllables    

     per line: 5-7-5-7-7.


To top-up the pot

First drain the dregs, chuck the chaff,

Rinse-out the rubble

Leave the old, enter the new

Now, since life does not tarry
